  • Overview

    The focus of this role is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing innovative technology initiatives which will lead transformation within the Firm to the desired future state. The organization is in process of transforming from a traditional, top-down professional services firm where technology is siloed and haphazardly implemented, into a dynamic, technology-focused, data-driven, agile organization structured through self-managed teams fueled by collaboration and knowledge-sharing. The experience of the client (internal and external) is at the forefront of all decisions.

     

    This transformation requires a repositioning of technology from a cost center to a revenue center. This position directs the planning and implementation of game-changing enterprise systems in support of business operations in order to measurably improve effectiveness, increase quality and provide innovative client services. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s information technology services and systems, technology strategy, R&D, and overseeing project management around technology initiatives.

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    Innovation:

    • Create a meaningful innovation strategy and road map that drives innovation, transformation and thought leadership
    • Maintain deep understanding of the industry/market pressures and changes, and the Firm’s capabilities in order to bring forth solutions that work across the firm and are integrated throughout the organization and which meet the unique needs of the organization
    • Ability to be a strategic thinker and a demonstrated strategic leader
    • Manage and lead efforts to ensure company’s capability to develop innovating strategies, services nd processes that enhance our competitive advantage
    • Ability to quantify the strategy and identify distinguishing opportunities
    • Ability to identify the people, processes and infrastructure needed to execute on the strategy
    • Facilitate innovation in the organization by leading and playing an active role in innovation process
    • Lead efforts to fundamentally disrupt how the Firm performs the work and generates output by infusing both with technology and automation that is tied into Firm strategy and the future vision and that puts client (internal and external) experience at the forefront
    • Lead innovation teams and facilitate workshops to assist in capturing and interpreting the articulated and unarticulated internal needs and needs of the clients with a focus on creating a unique, technology-based client experience that represents our brand
    • Utilize outside resources to find new sources of ideas, technical innovation solutions and obtain new innovation tools and best practices
    • Assist leaders in the development of proposals to further build an innovation culture
    • Approach change in a fail-forward, prototypical fashion that creates an environment of trust and learning
    • Work with all internal and external key stakeholders to strengthen innovation strategy and ensure a mindset of invention
    • Develop and sustain relationships and alliances with key partners and thought leadership groups to support innovation
    • Assist the Firm in becoming a data-driven organization by getting the firm’s proprietary data ready for mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and to be used for key business decisions and to proactively support key client lifecycle decision-making
    • Promote innovation initiatives to continue to foster excitement and participation in the programs.
    • Communicate results and new approaches to leadership team

     

    IT Strategy and Planning

    • Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the valuation, deployment and management of current and future IT systems across the organization
    • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business and is in line with the future vision of the firm
    • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, milestones, key performance indicators and operating procedures that are in alignment with the culture and future vision of the firm
    • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, hosting, software as a service, in-house development, etc.
    • Participate in the development and oversight of strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization as a member of the management team
    • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments, anticipated return on IT investments, risk associated with technology project implementation, etc. (risk management around security, client experience, speed of response, key person disruption, flow of organizaion, etc.)
    • Develop, track and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets
    • Develop business case justification and cost/benefit analyses for IT/Technology spending and planned initiatives
    • Direct development and execution of enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan
    • Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT department
    • Responsible for creating and overseeing Firm’s data governance and master data program
    • Responsible for overseeing and directing change management around technology initiatives, in coordination with other key stakeholders such as the COO, CEO, CFO, etc.

     

    Development & Deployment

    • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementation
    • Approve, prioritize and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development and installation of major information systems
    • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contract and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale
    • Evaluate, articulate and justify build vs. buy decisions
    • Employ appropriate development resources according to customized design requirements of unique specifications
    • Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, consolidating and operating IT systems
    • Establish and coordinate project management that drives projects to completion

     

    Operational Management:

    • Ensure continuous delivery of reliable IT services through oversight of all IT processes and daily activities (keep things up and running), including responsibility for risk management in that area
    • Maintain service level agreements with end users and hosting vendors
    • Monitoring of IT systems performance
    • Implement cutting edge cyber-security
    • Ensure It system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations
    • Establish lines of control for current and proposed information systems
    • Keep current with trends and issues in technology and the IT industry, including current technologies and prices, trends, future trends, etc. Advise, counsel and educate executives and management of their competitive and financial impact and strategies for the Firm around these.
    • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including clients, vendors and partner organizations
    • Supervise recruitment, development, retention and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.

    Position Requirements

     

    Formal Education and Certification

    • University degree in the field of information systems or business administration. Master’s degree in one of these fields preferred

     

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Proven leadership ability
    • Proven ability to drive change and innovation
    • 5+ years experience managing and/or directing IT/Technology operations or Technology Consulting services
    • Accounting, Finance or Professional Service industry experience
    • Experience in strategic planning and execution
    • Willingness to build out from the ground up and shape the future of the Firm
    • Dynamic, adaptable, inspiring leader with a focus on coaching and mentoring. and building out experiences
    • Excellent strategic thinker and demonstrated strategic leadership in a related role
    • Must be comfortable with ambiguity, complexity and uncertainty and possess a mentality that thrives on change
    • Willing to help create an ecosystem within the Firm for co-creation, where many complementary services can thrive and flourish, with integrated technology as the backdrop that runs through the Firm
    • Ability to recognize and stimulate new ideas with high potential impact
    • Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting and business office operations
    • Substantial exposure to data processing and mining, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications and outsourced systems (preferably in audit, tax and ERP systems)
    • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
    • Proven experience with Business intelligence and analytical reporting
    • Excellent understanding of project management principles
    • Superior understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives, especially in relation to innovation services and distinguishing technology
    • Demonstrated ability to apply technology in solving business problems
    • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
    • Proven leadership ability
