A Wiss client in Northern, NJ is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate MUST have previous real estate experience (ideally commercial office) and hold their CPA or MBA.
Property Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
o Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process in
conjunction with Property and Asset Management for properties
under management and assist in the budgeting and reforecasting
o Develop monthly cash projections and cash management for properties
o Review of property accountant work product for accuracy and completeness
o Review monthly variance reports to ensure explanations are clear and
o Lead Investor interaction as necessary
Leadership, Staff Management & Departmental Effectiveness
o Lead, train and mentor the accounting team
o Act as a subject matter resource to the greater company on R/E
accounting and finance issues
o Develop enhanced internal controls processes and
documentation/implementation to support organizational growth and
o Drive change and improvements for departmental and staff growth
and development thru training and mentorship.
o Facilitate Foster interdepartmental teamwork and communications to
expedite and improve the flow of information and work product
Finance & Accounting Systems Implementation
o Key manager for implementation of MRI modules and customizations
o Other MIS projects as necessary to continue to grow efficiencies
o Continuously suggest and make process improvements expanding
upon system capabilities and automation
Qualifications/Other Techical Requirements
o Strong knowledge of commercial real estate accounting
o Skilled in joint venture/partnership, private equity and fund accounting
o Ability to understand organizational cross‐functional effectiveness and how
operations interacts with finance
o Skilled in staff management and development
o Strong knowledge of tax and GAAP basis reporting
o CPA highly preferred
o MBA highly preferred
o Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
