    A Wiss real estate client located in NYC is seeking a Controller to join their growing and fast-paced team.  The ideal candidate must be hands-on and willing to build out the Accounting team, including developing processes and procedures.  The candidate must embrace new opportunities and be willing to multi-task and prioritize key deliverables.  The Controller MUST have previous real estate industry experience along with strong leadership and supervisory skills. 




    The Controller will be responsible for the oversight and direction of the real estate investment properties including; accounting function, collections, tax compliance, financial analysis,internal controls, accounting practices and reporting. The Controller must excel at managing and building a strong team of accounting professionals that report directly to him/her.


    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


    • Develop, implement and review efficient and effective accounting and nonadministrative processes, and overall internal controls of the investment properties.
    • Lead the development and implementation of accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with other departments in matters related to financial planning and control
    • Assist in creating annual budgets and adjusting them on a monthly basis.
    • Prepare monthly close package that includes but not limited to I&E, balance sheet, rent roll, budget vs. actual, variance report, cash management and operating expenses
    • Responsible for monthly reports for both internal and external clients.
    • Provide direction and guidance to the team on GL coding as well as accounting matters
    • Review and reconcile sub ledger and general ledger balances for AR, AP, Cash, Payroll and various balance sheet accounts
    • Perform internal audit at property sites to ensure compliance of procedures 


    • CPA is strongly preferred
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting Required
    • Minimum of 7 year of general Accounting experience with progressive levels of responsibility
    • Concentrated Real Estate Experience - May be Straight Public (Big 4 or large regional) or Public/Private combination
    • Expert in Real Estate Accounting
    • Supervisory experience a MUST
    • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills
    • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating others
    • Strong technical acumen in Excel and any Real Estate ERP system
    • Recommends and resolves problems and/or issues effectively
    • Possesses judgment, ethics and values consistent with Aulder’s core values, high standards,practices, policies, procedures and regulations
    • Proactive, thinks strategically and innovative
