Wiss and Company is currently searching for a Controller for our client in Hudson County. The Controller is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and development of internal control policies and procedures. This is a “hands-on” position and will work directly with the President and has tremendous growth potential in a rapidly growing company.


Responsibilities include all aspects of accounting functions including:

  • Management
    • Managing all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory, accounting and revenue recognition.
    • Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Transactions
    • Ensuring that accounts payable and accounts receivable are paid and collected promptly, and periodic bank reconciliations are completed accurately
    • Processing payroll in a timely manner
    • Maintaining chart of accounts and a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Reporting
    • Issuing timely, accurate and complete financial statements
    • Coordinating preparation of the annual report
    • Recommending benchmarks against which to measure company performance
    • Developing annual budget and forecasts, comparing budget to actual and reporting significant variances to management
    • Performing financial analyses as needed, particularly for capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Compliance
    • Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a financial Controller for a major company or division of a large corporation
  • Industry experience in an engineering or field service business desired
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A desire to add value to the organization beyond day-to-day tasks
