Overview

A Wiss client, Laird & Company, whose primary business is the bottling of distilled spirits, is currently seeking a strong hands-on Director of Finance/Controller to manage the accounting, finance, human resources and general office functions.  This position will be at the Colts Neck, NJ location.

 

The Director of Finance/Controller will report directly to the President, and will need to combine strong supervisory experience with a "hands on" approach, a proactive collaboration style and the ability to keep up with the pace of company growth. This role will focus on all financial reporting, day to day accounting, treasury, budgeting, review, tax, strategic planning, forecasting, insurance, and risk management.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Manage core accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger and credit
  • Manage monthly close and ensure timely completion of internal monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Complete monthly and quarterly detailed account reviews
  • Enhance the current closing process including completion of cash flow statements, and inventory and gross profit analysis
  • Work with operations to provide timely and accurate processes for inventory control and valuation
  • Enhance annual budgeting process
  • Oversee the company policies and procedures and the flow of cash
  • Administer corporate insurance and renewals
  • Manage monthly financial reporting and work with outside accounting firm for annual review
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax reporting
  • Attend Management meetings regularly
  • Handle relationships with lenders and insurance agents
  • Oversee and manage the day to day operations of the company


Minimum Requirements:

 

  • BA/BS in accounting is required
  • Advanced degree (CPA) or (MBA) preferred
  • 10+ years accounting experience with 3+ years at the Controller level
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to perform complex analysis utilizing Excel
  • Solid communication skills at all levels within the organization
  • Must have strong supervisory and management skills
  • Ability to identify and report problems and assist in their resolution
